The seven members of the Siboot team are volunteers working without pay. They have regular jobs and squeeze in their Siboot work on nights and weekends. This creates all sorts of problems. Everybody is tired all of the time from overwork. Nobody can guarantee that they’ll meet a deadline because some other issue might take away their free time. Progress is slow and uneven.
If we had some money, we could provide some compensation, which would make the sacrifices more bearable. We could buy some better hardware and software to make our work go more smoothly. We could perhaps hire some contractors to take over some of the work. If we get a lot of money, some of us could quit our jobs and devote full time to Siboot.
The more successful the campaign, the more time we can put into the project, which means that we’ll be able to make it better and get it done sooner.
